Why You Should Stop and Smell The Roses, Literally
Lifestyle
You may remember last Spring we made a DIY Flower Press & Pressed Flower Frames as part of our Christmas DIY Series? I made them while I was pregnant specifically for Goldie’s Nursery. Well, here we are a year later and the garden is in full bloom again! One afternoon this week we made the most of the sunshine and had a play in the garden. It’s been a VERY wet Spring here so you have to take those sunny moments when you can!
I piled up blankets and cushions on the grass, picked out some of Goldie’s favourite books and toys and we spent the afternoon showing her the flowers, bees and reading stories.
A very good reminder that it's worth it to stop and smell the roses.
Life is busy. With a family and a business it’s so easy for us to get caught up in all of the things we have to do. Recently I have been making a conscious effort to stop and put in the effort to make good memories regardless of how busy we may be. I touched on it in our last journal post 5 Things We’ve Learnt as New Parents.
Things like packing everyone into the car early in the morning when there’s a particularly epic sunrise, picking up some coffees and heading down to a secluded beach and going for a walk as a family.
Or planning a lunch with friends and putting in a little extra effort like picking a cuisine, making a fun playlist and putting in extra effort into creating a beautiful table-setting. It’s these times when we ‘overboard’ where the magic happens and special memories are made.

Now that restrictions have eased and we feel confident in making plans again i’ve been coming up with ideas to make the most of the warmer months ahead to make this one of the most memorable Summer’s yet.

Both Al and I love timber and we love to cook, so when it came to designing and building our kitchen we wanted to create a functional space and felt beautiful to be in. The kitchen has become the heart of our home, with our island bench the place we all gather around.
In the heart of our home lies a space where functionality seamlessly intertwines with style – our compact European laundry. Today, we're excited to share the design details and thoughtful choices we made to create this space.
