Growing Together: The Progress of Our Raised Veggie Garden
This year, our raised veggie garden has truly become one of our favourite spaces at the Good Day House. Designed by the talented Simon Taylor Landscape Design, this little patch of paradise has been a joy to nurture and watch thrive. It’s not just a garden—it’s become a place of connection, learning, and delicious rewards!
A Design That Works
Simon Taylor crafted a garden layout that feels both functional and beautiful. The raised beds are perfectly positioned to catch sunlight, with pathways that make planting, watering, and harvesting a breeze. Whether we’re growing leafy greens, herbs, or edible flowers, the design ensures the plants thrive and that we enjoy every step of the process.
What’s Growing Now?
Our garden is buzzing with life! Here’s a peek at what’s sprouting:
Leafy Greens: Spinach, tuscan kale, cos lettuce, rainbow chard and silverbeet have been staples for fresh, quick salads.
Herbs Galore: Basil, parsley, corriander, rosemary, thyme, parsley, oregano and mint are thriving, ready to add bursts of flavour to our cooking.
Edible Flowers: Marigolds, nasturtiums and pansies not only brighten the garden but also add colour to our plates.
Goldie has been our little helper, eagerly watering plants and proudly picking herbs for dinner. Watching her excitement has been such a highlight—she’s truly invested in every sprout and leaf.
The Secret to Success
One of the key reasons our garden is thriving is the soil and plant care. We’ve been using Scotts Organic Plant Food, which has kept our veggies happy and thriving. It’s amazing to see how a little extra nourishment makes such a difference.
Sharing the Bounty
There’s nothing better than enjoying homegrown produce and sharing it with family and friends. From fresh herbs for pasta to greens for a neighbour’s salad, the garden has brought so much joy to us and those around us.
Why We Love It
This garden is more than just a place to grow veggies. It’s become a space to slow down, connect with nature, and share meaningful moments as a family. Thanks to Simon Taylor’s thoughtful design, it’s a feature we’re proud of and one we know will continue to bring us joy for years to come.
If you’re thinking of starting your own veggie garden, we can’t recommend raised beds and a great landscape designer enough. It’s been a game-changer for us! 🌱
