Sharing our top picks from our book collection with you!

We’ve been reading to the girls since before they were even born — back when they were just tiny kicks in my tummy. Both Al and I are huge book lovers, so naturally, our children’s book collection has grown a lot over the years.

If you’re building your own little library or looking for the best books for babies and toddlers, we’ve pulled together a list of our all-time favourites. These are the ones we’ve read on repeat and the ones that always end up back in little hands.

The Classics - you may remember some of these books from your childhood… well they’ve stood the test of time! These books are on high rotation in our house!

Alice Oehr is a graphic artist from Melbourne. Her distinct colourful style incorporates her love of food, pattern, collage, and drawing. We have her entire collection in our home and the girls love these books. They are a great way to learn about the names of vegetables, fruit, plants and a good way to encourage adventurous eating!

My Art Book Of Happiness We were gifted this book by a friend and it’s been a really great way to introduce fine art to the girls, we love taking them to galleries and this book not only showcases amazing artist but also it’s about happiness and joy which always leaves us feeling good!

Alison Lester is an Australian author and illustrator, her books are absolutely magical and our collection is extensive! Magic Beach and Sing Me The Summer make me so nostalgic of growing up and if you’re looking for a good book to gift someone having a baby - Kissed By The Moon is my top pick!

Noni The Pony is a great for toddlers as it’s a rhyming book and The Journey Home features Mermaids, Fairies, Prices & Princesses - so you know it’ll be a hit!

Here’s a selection of beautifully illustrated books with lovely stories!

Little People, Big Dreams - each book tells the story of someone remarkable, from artists and scientists to activists and change-makers. The language is simple enough for toddlers to follow, but the message runs deep. We especially love that they spotlight a diverse range of people and paths — it’s such an inspiring way to show the girls what’s possible.

We purchases these books for Daisy for her second Christmas and they were perfectly age appropriate - bright colours and easy words to learn.
